Rick Heffernan Appointed to NEMA Codes & Standards Committee

We are thrilled to announce that Rick Heffernan, Group Vice President – Codes, Standards & Strategy, has been appointed as a voting member of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Codes & Standards Committee for the upcoming year.

In his new role, Rick will be instrumental in the development and oversight of technical standards, codes, and specifications, both within NEMA and in collaboration with other organizations. His responsibilities will include approving NEMA Technical Positions, coordinating with the International Regional Standardization Committee, and supporting the harmonization of electrotechnical products and conformity assessment procedures on a regional scale.

The mission of the NEMA Codes & Standards Committee involves supervising and correlating the development of technical standards and codes, promoting the direct adoption of the National Electrical Code®, and ensuring the alignment of regional conformity assessment procedures. As a voting member, Rick will work alongside to the committee to approve NEMA Standards and Technical Documents, appoint representatives to external bodies, and address conformity assessment issues in both the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, the Codes and Standards Committee plays a crucial role in interacting with Sections and Product Groups, adjudicating technical disagreements, and overseeing Joint Sections Committees when necessary.
