Rick Heffernan Appointed to NEMA International and Regional Standardization Committee (IRSC)
SDi is pleased to announce that the NEMA Standards and Conformity Assessment Policy Committee (SCAPC) has appointed Rick Heffernan, Group Vice President – Codes, Standards & Strategy, to the International and Regional Standardization Committee (IRSC).
The IRSC plays a vital role in representing, supervising, and coordinating all activities related to the development and implementation of international and regional programs that address technical standards, product and manufacturing regulations, and their respective conformity assessment systems. This includes evaluating and promoting conformance criteria through the development of association position statements on product marking systems and market access requirements.
Since its establishment in 1984, the IRSC has been instrumental in shaping policies that meet the needs of NEMA members, ensuring their voices are heard in international standardization discussions. The committee works closely with NEMA sections to propose and implement strategies that align with agreed-upon standardization policies and to coordinate with relevant NEMA committees.
Rick’s appointment to this influential committee highlights his expertise and commitment to advancing industry standards. As part of the IRSC, he will help define objectives, establish priorities, and monitor activities that impact NEMA members in the global market. The committee also focuses on conformity assessment issues, working to develop action plans that address global certification challenges and support NEMA’s international strategies.
We congratulate Rick Heffernan on this important appointment and look forward to his contributions in driving NEMA’s mission forward in the realm of international and regional standardization.
